#MHMBC Migraine & Headache Awareness Month #12: The Box: You are the experiment: What situation in your Migraine/Headache Disorders treatment has made you feel most like a guinea pig or lab rat?

June Migraine awareness month

I have gotten behind on my blogging due to an extended Migraine cycle, so I am trying to catch up. Due to recent tragic events In the CMA Community, it is more important than ever to get the word out so that people understand Chronic Migraine Disease.

I feel like my experience with this Migraine Disease has left me feeling like a professional Lab Rat. An unpaid one that is. With all the trials: try a medication for 3 months to see if it works and if not get weaned off then go on another, and then another, to try yet another one and so on and so forth. Some days you feel dazed, confused and like your lost is a maze without your cheese as a reward.

It’s one medication after another and it seems endless the experimentation this involves. The doctors are like “well, we’ve tried this so this try that now and see if it works or not”.  Your body feels all jumbled up not just from the horrible effects of the Migraine Disease, but also from all the effects of the medication and rounds of Botox and other procedures.

But beings there is no cure for Migraine Disease I do not have a choice. I have to keep my status as a Non-Paid Professional Lab Rat until one day, which I pray is soon, the right medication and/or treatment can be found.
